GearsNGenes proudly announces the release of three new PCBs: the Logic Gates. Each PCB represents one kind of gate -AND, OR, or NOT – reflected in their shapes. These will be the boards we use in our Transistors and Digital online course. You can look at the PCBs and order them on OSHPark by clicking the links below:
These PCBs’ purposes are to enable students to easily experiment with inputs and outputs of logic gates while also exposing the lower level circuitry that each gate possesses. With these PCBs, students can test gates individually or connect them in complex patterns to make devices like D-Latches.
As you will see on each board, there are holes to connect female headers for the MOSFET transistors. We labeled the pins appropriately as S (source), D (drain), and G (gate). Additionally, we placed holes for pull-down resistors so that the boards never remain in a hanging state (See Transistor experiment 1 for an introduction to hanging state).
GearsNGenes will release a proper guide to the assembly and use of the gates soon! Until then, keep building, and stay creative!
